The Children's choir of St. Isaac Jogues consists of children in grades 4-8 who sing at the 9:30am mass one Sunday per month, at school liturgies, and on Christmas and Easter It meets every Tuesday during the school year. All parishioners who are of age are invited to join. No auditions are required. Through the use of liturgical music, the children bring praise, honor and glory through this ministry. Music, being the highest form of art in the mass, raises the hearts and souls of all the congregated during the liturgy. Moreover, the children learn melodies, harmony, music theory and basic musicianship during rehearsals. These skills obtained will not only benefit them musically, but also in their everyday lives!
Anyone who is interested in joining must have an interest in music. There are no special skills necessary. We have a 45 minute rehearsal every week on Tuesday's, and sing once a month at the 9:30am mass.
As a chorister, the challenge comes with the intensity of the rehearsal. We learn new pieces every week, ranging from a level one in difficulty, to a level eight. The rewards come in the form of commorodory in the group. We become like a family of friends! There is no better way of praising our Lord during the mass, than by praying twice with our voices!
Come and see why! |
